Solution Exchange for
the Karnataka Community in India
|
Solution Exchange,
an initiative of the UN agencies in India, offers a UN-sponsored space
where development professionals with similar interests ("Communities of
Practice") connect to share knowledge and experience towards the common
objective of problem-solving. As a member of a Solution Exchange
Community, you can proceed with confidence that you are not reinventing
the wheel.
Communities
are organized around national development priorities and the Millennium
Development Goals, contributing to their successful achievement.
Members come from all walks of life, namely - government, NGOs,
development partners, private sector, academia - to interact on an
ongoing basis, build trust, and strengthen to their work as a group.
Key benefits include:
-
Connecting people with common
interests
- Gaining
recognition among your peers
- Offering
"knowledge on demand"
- Providing
a wide range of solutions
- Increasing
development effectiveness
How it works
Everyone
in a Solution Exchange Community of Practice is subscribed to a mail
group moderated by a senior domain specialist. When you come across a
challenge and would like to hear from your colleagues, you put your
query in an e-mail and the moderator posts it to the Community. Other
Members respond with advice, experience, contacts or other suggestions
to help you out. After two weeks the query closes and the moderator
synthesizes the discussions into a "Consolidated Reply" - a synopsis of
the responses together with the additional resources recommended
(websites, readings, experts or organizations), that is circulated to
the Community.
