1. Creating Community Assets
It was decided by Ambala Gram Panchayat to undertake one work in respect of an earthen nala dam under the NREG programme. The work was approved by the gram sabha and the then district collector of Aurangabad Shri Kharge, was invited for the Bhoomipujan ceremony. The estimated cost of the earthen dam was Rs.3.52 Lakh. The construction of wall of the bund was soon complete but the pitching work stopped due to rains. However, since sufficient excavation work was already complete, adequate water had accumulated. The total number of man days generated were 2600. The amount of seepage the ground level of water in the area had gone up and almost all the wells in this area had enough water in them.

2. Scheme bridges the social barrier among tribal groups
Members of the tribal communities like Kurichiya and Paniya are constrained by social barriers in their interactions. There is no close interaction among members of these tribal communities. With intervention of NREGS work in Vellanunda Gram Panchayat of Mananthavadi Block in Wayanad District in Kerala, the social barriers began to disappear. The initiative of Vellamunda Gram Panchayat President paved the way, to attract tribal community members to the NREGS works, he initiated one of the works (Valaramkunnu - Koyitappara road formation) in Ward No.19 solely for ST members from Kurichiya, Paniya and Kattunaikka. The Gram Panchayat President took care that each tribal worker was paid a reasonable amount during the work as part-bill so that they get attracted towards the Scheme. The social barriers between the members of Kurichiya and Paniya communities have come to a naught due NREGA.

3. Construction of Pond increased Prospects of agricultural Production farming & Pisci-culture
Impact of irrigation facility could be seen in Rendo village of Chuttu Gram Panchayat (Kante Block of Ranchi District), where cultivation of Pekchi (locally used for making Sag from its leaves and vegetable from its stem) has been started on the bank of a pond constructed under NREGA. It is expected that during the current season, farmers will earn about Rs. 4,000 by selling Pekchi produced on the bank of this pond. 4. Providing Employment to Landless Agricultural Labourers
In Baghmundi in Purulia district, West Bengal, a Bandh is being excavated at an estimated cost of Rs. 5 lakh. Approximately 6800 person days of employment have been generated and 303 households have been provided work. Before this, the labourers found it difficult to get work locally and survived on the sale of fire-wood from which they earned approximately Rs.15-20 per day. Through the NREGA work, they have been able to earn nearly Rs. 65-70 per day based on the quantum of work done. Irrigation facilities will now be available on 15 acres of land.
