From the Resource Team
Dear all,
Greetings from the resource team!
It is amazing how the past month has gone by! It seems just a little while ago when I wrote to you requesting for your able support in spreading the message of Solution Exchange. I am happy to report that the word seems to be going around yet it is still not enough. I suspect that one of the reasons this increased awareness is not getting translated into as many ‘sign ups’ is that people are concerned about the email traffic a membership of such a platform generates. Well, while I do not have any ‘magic’ answers to this ‘problem’ I can only make a suggestion. Till such time that we move on to becoming a web-based system, you can ask your friends and colleagues to subscribe using an alternate email id that does not interfere with their routine work. Members can then check solution exchange mails at their convenience and we can have the benefit of enriching our community with their contributions and engagement.
We are happy to report that the past month saw our community take up some very practical and interesting queries- practical because the inputs of the members will be immediately used in designing a poverty alleviation programme in Maharashtra; in developing a strategy for working with the homeless in Pune city and in preparing a report for promoting PPCP and interesting because we have handled quite a range of issues through these queries.
We look forward to another month of stimulating exchange in the community. As usual we look forward to hearing from you. Here is wishing you all a joyful and stimulating month ahead.
With best wishes
Ranu Bhogal and Warisha Yunus

The paper discusses the findings of a recent study ‘Pro-poor intervention strategies in irrigated agriculture in Asia: poverty in irrigated agriculture - realities, issues, and options with guidelines’ which found that crop yield in unirrigated areas is half of those in the irrigated areas and that the landless get better wage rate in irrigated areas.
