The Disaster Management (DM) Community organized its Visioning Workshop from 13-14 February 2008 in New Delhi. The one and half day workshop brought together over 180 participants from all over India and provided an opportunity for face to face interaction, deliberating on emerging disaster management issues and challenges, sharing members’ focus of work, and strategizing on the future course of action for the DM Community. The purpose of the Workshop was to: - Strengthen the Community of Practice on Disaster Management - deepen connections in a face-to-face environment.
- Identify critical issues (based on participants’ interests and expertise) to be developed into e-discussion topics, as well as themes for action research groups.
- Demonstrate & encourage knowledge sharing, and expose members to innovative approaches and initiatives related to the disaster management sector and other areas of concern to this Community
- Plan out future activities & direction of the Disaster Management Community.
The workshop discussed three topics (among the themes identified by the second Resource Group) and shared experiences and knowledge at a Knowledge Mela which focused on eight key themes. To read the Workshop Report click here (PDF, Size: 90 KB )
