UNESCO is proud to provide a neutral platform through the Education Community of Practice of Solution Exchange, to practitioners in the basic education sector, to discuss, share, connect and learn from each other. UNESCO shares its goals with the Education Community – the achievement of universal primary education by 2015, improvement in the level of adult literacy and the elimination of gender disparities at all levels of education. The community seeks to promote the goals and targets of the 11th Five Year Plan with respect to the quality of basic education, ensuring school access and sustaining enrolment therough the primary levels, reducing gaps and creating education opportunities for girls and other disadvantaged groups within the context of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Being one of the lead co-ordinating agencies (along with UNICEF) for Education for All in India, UNESCO is assisting the government in the achievement of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan goals. We are a technical support agency facilitating interchange of best practices, and the Education Community ably supports us in this.
