The Gender Community has crossed many important milestones in the last two years of its existence. The Community is now vibrating with more than 2200 members from India and abroad, with recognition from the Co-Chairs; UNIFEM and UNICEF as well as from the Government, The Delhi Commission for Women and the development practitioners. The knowledge Management outreach is demand driven, both from within the UN and out side, with requests coming in from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Universities, NGOs, Bi-lateral organizations and gender specialists.

The Community’s face-to-face meetings at regional levels and the visioning workshop at the National level had been outstanding landmarks with the Minister for Women and Child Development giving recognition to the community’s qualitative knowledge management efforts. The rich knowledge products as consolidated replies are now available of UNIFEM website (http://www.unifem.org.in/) in the public domain, for the larger community of development professionals. It is a community with spontaneous participation in knowledge networking, reaching out to the grassroots level professionals and brings back the issues to the policy level platform. It is successfully connecting people in furthering gender goals in India.
