We are a group of professionals from a wide range of organizations and perspectives who are dedicated to addressing challenges to women's involvement in development - increased access, capacity, and equality in women's social, economic and political endeavors. The Gender Community is co-facilitated by UNIFEM and UNICEF, and is moderated by a Resource Team comprised of Resource Person Dr. Malika Basu and Ms. Dhivya David, Research Associate. Community Highlights
The Gender Community now has more than 3000 members from India and abroad, with recognition from the facilitators; UNIFEM and UNICEF as well as from the Government, the Delhi Commission for Women and development practitioners. The knowledge Management outreach is demand driven, both from within the UN and out side, with requests coming in from the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Universities, NGOs, Bi-lateral organizations and gender specialists. The Community’s face-to-face meetings at regional levels and the visioning workshop at the National level had been outstanding landmarks with the Minister for Women and Child Development giving recognition to the community’s qualitative knowledge management efforts.
