How to Introduce Sex Education in Schools

The AIDS Community prepared a document on introducing sex education into CBSE affiliated schools, for submission by UNAIDS to the Parliamentary Committee.

There has been severe criticism of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India regarding the introduction of sex-education (Adolescence Education Programme (AEP) into Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) affiliated schools across the country.

The Parliamentary Committee on petitions invited public suggestions on introducing sex education into CBSE affiliated schools. The Committee on Petitions under the Chairmanship of M. Venkaiah Naidu, M.P, and Rajya Sabha examined what petitioners had to say, and decided to undertake wider consultations with all the stakeholders for generating a national debate on the subject.

The AIDS Community thus prepared a document on sex education for submission by UNAIDS to Parliamentary Committee as per the appended advertisement. The memorandum submitted to the Committee will form part of its records and would be treated as confidential and therefore should not be printed, circulated or publicised by anyone.
