Gender Community action group working to develop training modules on sexual harassment in the workplace…

A query on how to address the problem of sexual harassment at the workplace elicited several responses from members of the Gender Community.

Based on the discussion, various agencies concerned, as well as the Maharashtra State Commission for Women, the policy academy and the Maharashtra Institute of Public Administration decided to take action. An action group was formed to take the issue forward comprising the Member Secretary of Maharashtra State Commission for Women, the Labor Commissioner, the Secretary, officials from the Department of Women and Child Development. During their consultations it was decided to develop training modules on the subject.

Then the India Center for Human Rights and Law, the Government of Maharashtra and the Gender Community members formed worked together to develop training modules to train state government officials on sexual harassment issues at the workplace. They assessed the training needs of the participants in order prepare the modules.

Once the final training modules are complete, they will be shared with the Gender Community.
