We are a group of professionals from a wide range of organizations and perspectives who are dedicated to addressing challenges facing public health and nutrition practitioners engaged in reducing infant mortality and maternal mortality. The Maternal & Child Health Community is co-facilitated by WHO, UNICEF and UNFPA, and is moderated by a Resource Team comprised of Mr. Meghendra Banerjee, Resource Person and Dr. Deeksha Sharma, Research Associate. Community Highlights In a vast country like India, where so many stakeholders are involved in planning and implementation of health programmes, sharing of knowledge is essential, in order to learn from past experiences and be able to use those lessons in the future. The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Community with guidance from our “Resource Group,” over the past three years has discussed a range of issues pertaining to maternal mortality, skilled birth attendance, emergency obstetric care, referrals, reproductive health and family planning, newborn mortality, infant and neonatal care, immunization, nutrition, adolescent health, community participation, health systems, public-private partnerships in healthcare delivery. We believe in mutual sharing of knowledge and with support from members we are working towards identification of issues and exploration of choices for problem solving to improve maternal and child health in India. On March 17 & 18, members met in Udaipur for our 3rd Annual Forum, to look at the emerging issues in MCH, and explore possibilities of collaboration. Watch this space for update and upcoming events.
