FNS Community Holds Annual Forum in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, 17-29 August 2007: The 2nd Annual Forum of the United Nations Solution Exchange - Food and Nutrition Community concluded with a “Knowledge Mela” and a meeting of the Community’s Resource Group members.

The Knowledge Mela which is a face-to-face Solution Exchange query response methodology provided an opportunity to the members to share specific issues of food and nutrition security. The Knowledge Mela constituted of stalls hosted by the community members displaying their efforts towards improving the status of food and nutrition in India. Amongst the six issues discussed were; the need for integrated post harvest management, need for local language content development and improving community food security with a focus on use of traditional genetic materials.

The resource group members, that steer the course of the community, met to take forward the recommendations and advised on the future plan of action for the community activity. The resource group meeting was also attended by MLA’s Mr. Nandedla Manohar and D. Sridhar Babu, they extended full support in taking forward the recommendation of the resource group members.
