Dear members, One of the important components of the Annual Forum of the community that was held from 20th to 22nd of February in Patna, Bihar was the brainstorming on the three Action groups that will be working over the next few months.
An Action Group is a small team of Community members (e.g., 6-10 persons) commissioned by one Community member – a “Champion” or a “Convener”– to carry out an assignment of strategic value to the Community. The assignment can be a programme or project proposal, a study to fill a knowledge gap, a training package, policy recommendations, or anything that can be prepared within a few months time frame by a small team. In other words, the “Action Group” modality is simply a way to encourage government decision-makers, research institutes or development agencies to think about the Community as a pool of talent for assignments that would otherwise be given to consulting firms or “Expert Groups.”
We bring here the concept notes of the three action groups for your perusal. While the attendance in the Forum was substantial we know that many of you were not able to make it for a variety of reasons and yet some of you may be interested in getting engaged with the Action groups. It is with this objective that we are sharing the three concept notes with the contact details of the Conveners. Please feel free to contact the Conveners to get involved.
