Dear Friends
Let me start by giving you the good news - the 2nd e-discussion is currently on. We have adjusted the topic a little bit to fit to a burning problem of human resource in our country’s health force. I am really looking forward to having an enriching discussion, especially with the 11th Plan just around the corner; we can really make an impact.
One significant event took place in late June. We organised a Global Consultation on Solution Exchange for UN representatives of 13 countries and Knowledge Management experts of various UN agencies, who came here to learn, understand and explore possibilities of replication. I see a great opportunity in this, and that is linking our own community with like-minded practitioners of other countries. The consultation was an exhilarating experience and reassurance that we are going in the right direction.
We had two very important topics up the community for your comments in July the Draft Health and Population Policy of Chhattisgarh and Recommendations from the Gender Round Table on Combating Pre-Natal Sex Detection (See Report). This is a new feature of our communities, and a great chance to impact the policies directly.
I would encourage you to send your questions / queries, to the community (even when the e-Discussion is going on) and I will send them in for the others to respond.
Best Wishes,
Meghendra Banerjee Resource Person and Moderator Health Communities
Member Speak “I thank you for coordinating the dialogue re:
Identifying Post Partum Hemorrhage (PPH) with the
Se-MCH colleagues. There were some interesting observations and the
suggestion of using a calibrated plastic bag post delivery
of baby seems a good option to measure bleeding. I
agree with the experts that assessment of the general condition of the woman
should be used as criteria also to refer her early but most of the times the
general condition shows visible changes after quite a bit of blood loss has
already occurred. I will discuss with the Country Director,
CEDPA-India to recommend to the MH division, MoHFW, the
feasibility of using the plastic bag during training of providers for Skilled
Attendance at Birth. Once
again I thank you for this very useful and interesting consolidated
document.” Rashmi Asif, CEDPA, “Thank you so much for entertaining my query on public private partnerships in MCH and posting it in Solution Exchange community. I have received a number of good responses, which will be of immense value to our study. Your compilation of the responses is truly great. On behalf of IIM Ahmedabad and the project, I would like to thank you for all the help extended by you and the community members towards our study.” Somen Saha, IIM, Ahmedabad
“Thanks for a very useful set of inputs towards the Chhattisgarh Health Policy. We shall be putting up
the final draft to the government incorporating all those vital issues and
shall be sharing back the 'final and approved draft' by the government. I
shall request either Dr. Sundar or the
Director Health Services Chhattisgarh to put an official word on this support
you have extended.” V. R. Raman, State Health
Resource Centre Chhattisgarh,
“I am a new member…. I have really learned many new
ideas and approaches and would like to congratulate the community for such a
rich debate....” Anuj Srivastava, UHRC,
