Dear Friends,
We are pleased to announce that the dates for the Second Annual Meeting has been finalised for 8 and 9 February 2007. As we mentioned in our last update the venue for this meeting is Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Medical Sciences, Wardha, Maharashtra. The registration process will begin during the third week of December, so look out for the notice. This year we will be opening up the event to a maximum of 100 self-sponsored participants, on a first-come-first-served basis. We will be making the living arrangements in Wardha and cover the workshop related costs like accommodation, food, reading materials and the field visits.
This past month has been truly exciting as two new Solution Exchange communities have been launched: a new Poverty Community - Microfinance and Information Communication Technology (ICT) for Development. You can find the details in the “Recently Held” section of the Update. In addition, the Decentralization Community has recently started sending the queries in both Hindi and English, to ensure more regional participation. We too hope to introduce this feature in December. We would most definitely like to hear you opinion about it.
We must also thank you for sending so many good materials for this Update. We hope that this "Resource Corner" feature of our community really takes off. This is all about sharing and we are showing the way.
So, gear up for the Annual Meeting and we will be sending out the registration information and the detailed programme in our subsequent mails.
Best Wishes,
Meghendra Banerjee Deeksha Sharma Resource Person and Moderator Research Associate |

Vinod Bhanu, Centre for Legislative Research and Advocacy (CLRA), New Delhi “I framed a few questions using the postings/resources from different community of solution exchange. I've already started putting these questions through MPs. I am also framing some matters for motions of public importance etc. I find there are lot more questions or other parliamentary measures like urgent motions/special mentions, half-an-hour discussion, calling attention, private members bill etc. can be generated and it will have effective impact in the policy decision making process as the Government has to give some assurance on the Floor of the Houses against these measures.”
Kajali Paintal, PATH India, New Delhi “I have been a regular user of the solutions exchange network and have found the information shared by this initiative to be quite helpful and relevant to my work profile.”
Jayanta Bhattacharya, Raigunj, West Bengal “Since the beginning of the MCH Community update it has become an almost demarcated area for those people really involved with the issue of health and community. At the 7th one I’d like to share some observations and remarks as well with the MCH Family. The basic principles of knowledge translations are integration and simplification. Knowledge translation is analogous to a local power grid. My endeavor is to understand this knowledge translation process through some theoretical questions…..” Read More
