The Maternal & Child Health Community addresses challenges facing public health and nutrition practitioners engaged in reducing infant mortality and maternal mortality.

What is the Solution Exchange for the Maternal and Child Health Community?

The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Community is addressing the national development priorities and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) relating to improving maternal and child health and to reduce maternal, infant and child mortality, as per India’s Five-Year Plans, the National Population Policy 2000, the Rural Health Mission, and Phase II of the Reproductive and Child Health Programme (RCH-II).

The MCH Community connects the members of this Community and increases the effectiveness of their individual efforts, helping them share and apply each other’s knowledge and experience. Through Solution Exchange, colleagues can turn to their peers across India for solutions to the day-to-day challenges they face.

  7. Public or private sector nurses or physicians providing primary healthcare

Community Organization

The Maternal and Child Health Community is comprised of:

  1. Community members
  2. UNICEF plays the role of a facilitating agency
  3. Resource Group is the Advisory group representing key actors, key organizations and agencies in the field of maternal and child health in India, whose role is to establish the Community’s priorities, provides the Community with guidance, direction and support, commission collaborative work ("Action Groups") to tackle key challenges, and to evaluate performance and impact.
  4. Resource Team - A Research Associate who manages the community interactions, moderates the discussion, organizes the production of Consolidated Replies and other knowledge products, and support community activities, both over the electronic network and in organizing face-to-face events, if any
